Nothing Makes Me Happier Than Introducing Someone New to Theo's Fried Chicken
Have you tried Theo's fried chicken yet?
If not, let me tell you about it.
Wait, first let me take a few steps back and tell you how hard on I go on certain things.
I like to try a lot of things until I find the "best" of the genre.
The best oatmeal pie in Orlando? The Robinson.
The best guac in Orlando? JJ's on Curry Ford.
The best value cheese plate in Orlando? Bull & Bush in the Milk District
Best rainbow cake? Light on the Sugar
The best strawberry pie? Se7en Bites
Yeah, I love desserts. SO WHAT?!
I also really love fried chicken. Not the greasy chain stuff, but that good good crispy juicy but not slimy stuff.
(but only on days when I am not suffering the aftermath of another 'no chicken moment')
You know, the holy grail of chicken.
I've been trying to find something that compared to the Maryland Fried Chicken i used to visit when I lived on the Space Coast, but even the MFC's here didn't hit the same.
So I set out on a mission to find the fried-est chicken in Orlando.
I didn't discover it until about 5 years ago. I tried a LOT of places and most of them were just okay.
I'd been avoiding Theo's despite all the Orlando food forums praising their chicken, because well, I was in the same shopping center as Theo's kitchen a lot (because we spent a LOT of time at Roque Pub) and it was a freaking Mediterranean restaurant.
I didn't want Mediterranean chicken!
But then one day, the planets aligned and shut my dumb brain up about trying it.
I've never looked back.
The chicken is perfect. Crispy, dry and flavorful on the outside and tender, juicy and flavorful on the inside.
If I'm ordering in when you come over, the first thing I'm ask you is "Have you experienced the wonder of Theo's fried chicken yet?"
If the answer is no, ordering in is gonna be so easy. 9 piece meal, crinkle fries, hushpuppies and rolls.
Their sides are nothing extravagant, but the fries travel better than most.
The hushpuppies though? Out of this world. I haven't tried enough hushpuppies in Orlando to deem these the best, but it'd be difficult to find something better.
Oh and my other favorite part about getting chicken from Theo's? I get to have their perfect baklava for dessert.
So my final question is... when are you coming over to eat Theo's with me?
