Did You Know You Can Hire Your Friendly Neighborhood Jacki?
Why, yes, you can!
What sorts of things can you hire me for?
Let's talk about it! Because here's the thing, I'm really trying to focus my skills and time on things that I truly believe in or, hell, love.
And you know what? It's really been serving me well.
Over the past year and a half or so, I've worked on some really fun projects, including but not limited to:
- Package design for adult wellness products
- Social media planning and execution
- Blog writing (various topics)
- Logo design
- Weekly newsletters
- Branding
- Personalized erotica
- Style guides (this is legit one of my favorite things to do)
- Monthly reporting
- T-shirt designs (both for myself and for secret birthday surprises)
- Website redesigns (both regular engineering folks and the ever-challenging adult sexual health and wellness industry)
The part that does not serve me well is the actually going out there and getting work.
So far, I've been depending on current and former clients to tag me in posts on Facebook where I awkwardly introduce myself to strangers via Facebook messenger.
I know I need to start selling myself, but I am so bad at that. Because I know my brain works differently than most folks and a lot of people don't know what to do with me.
That's because I don't just look at your business or project and tell you exactly what you need to do and then leave you to do it on your own.
I had a couple clients like that at the beginning of my journey and we just didn't jive together. The place where the working relationship fell apart (from my perspective) was when I would ask them for feedback and would only get "great" or "fine" but then asked two weeks later why something wasn't working.
I ask very specific feedback questions for a reason, particularly at the beginning of our working relationship.
Instead, I like listen to your needs, present you with multiple options and then we pick one to try.
While we try it, our lines of communication are ALL THE WAY open. You don't like something? Cool? Don't be quiet about it! Tell me and we'll shift focus until we're back on the right path. The first few times I did this with a client, it gave me mega anxiety.
When I started freelancing, I was used to the fast-paced, no mistakes corporate world where you have to get things exactly right the first time or "get in trouble". Not a great motivator at all, lol.
But I'm past that anxiety now, because my motivation is not "don't get in trouble" any longer, but instead, "massive continued success". And that doesn't happen by doing things the same way the same time until the end of time.
The success comes when I truly understand my clients needs. and even more than that understanding that those needs will change. Cause they will and I'm ready to change with them.
So, this sick bay blog (yes, I am still testing positive and somehow there is MORE snot today) is my awkward way of telling y'all that I have some space in my schedule and I'm ready for a new project. The more creative the better.
So you do need someone to distill your brand into a style guide? I'll prepare a one sheet with your colors, fonts, etc that you can use to keep your brand cohesive.
You want someone to prepare some social media templates for you to just drop your own words into? Let's create something fun together.
Have a business idea and need a logo? I've designed logos from everything from adult novelty companies to parking lot cleaning companies. My imagination runs deep.
Do you want to plan a huge event but don't know where to start? Please, please email me (jacki@valleyofoh.com). This is my favorite. I love organizing events and making them unique and creative. I can help you come up with food/drink ideas, decor, activities, up to including interactive art projects that can be displayed after your event.
What about taglines? Throw some cash at me and tell me what you're trying to sell and I will give you altogether too many taglines to choose from.
Do you have a silly t-shirt idea that you want to make your friend for their birthday but you don't want them to know about it before you give it to them? Yes, please.
I want to help you bring the things that live in your head a reality. Like, if you have a ridiculous idea that you've been turning around for a while and don't know how to get it started? Or where to take it?
My brain works a little differently and I'm really great at seeing the unseen paths and getting you on 'em. Let me help you!
If you decide to work with me, the one thing that will ensure continued success for both of us is complete honesty. If you're not happy with something - tell me! And trust that if I don't know the best way to proceed on a project - I'll tell you. I won't try to bullshit my way through just so I can make some money.
And then I'll figure it out. And this open, honest communication will ensure EVERYONE'S success.
Oh and here is the always important call to action: EMAIL ME AND LET'S MAKE MAGIC TOGETHER. (jacki@valleyofoh.com)
