Bean Box 12 Days of Christmas Coffees: Day 4
Mickey has been gone since Monday and I've listened to nothing but Nina Simone the entire time. I have no idea why.
Before this, I was a rut where I'd listen to barely anything that wasn't the soundtrack to 'Killing Eve', 'The Leftovers' or 'Search Party'. (Plus occasional forays into my adult life standards of anything Jack White, Kanye West or Regina Spektor.)
I dunno why Nina Simone. I dunno why now. But I really love it. It seems like whatever song plays at a given moment is imbued with meaning and importance. I've paid attention to lyrics and melodies and how they work together more than ever.
Oh, I also had a coffee today.
"Holiday Cheer" from Blossom Coffee Roasters is the lightest coffee in the box yet! My first cup had no cream or sugar additions and was a solid cup of coffee... but nothing to write home about.
Granted, I like my coffee dark as night and this was the lightest roast yet, so that's the bulk of it. When I added cream, the berry notes came alive, which I really dug.
Then I got a bright idea. Mix up a little hot chocolate up in there. Y'all. This was IT. It next-leveled every flavor profile in the coffee and gave it kind of a velvety texture.
If you wanna try it, I only a heaping tablespoon of hot cocoa mix to the coffee/cream. This is a trick I'll be sure to remember next time I've got a light roast to drink.
2.5/5 Ohs!
Oh, btw here is a link to the coffee calendar.
