A few weeks ago (I am estimating because I will be writing this in pieces based on how well this stuff works, I purchased some all natural deodorant that is supposed to last 7 days.
It was an impulse purchase at a health food store when we were still living that Hotel Lyfe and I tried it immediately.
Well, as immediately as I could.
Oh! Let me tell you the details about this stuff
It's called Lavilin Underarm Deodorant Creme and this is what thier website says:
"A true classic and pioneer, Lavilin's Underarm Deodorant Cream has been keeping the "single application" revolution going for more than 40 years. Originally formulated to combat body odor for soldiers in military barracks, the Underarm Deodorant Cream effectively neutralizes perspiration odor in the underarm area by eliminating it for up to 7 days with just one application!"
Ok, before I even try it for the first time I have to detox my armpits.
Yes, of course I read all the instructions first. Multiple times.
I even read some Reddit threads.
So I spent three days with no deodorant at all. There is no way I could have survived this step in Florida.
But in Michigan? It was no problem.
After the three days, I took a shower and cleaned my pits really good. They were already looking better.
When I got out of the shower, I made sure that they were bone dry and got to work.
I took the included lil spatula and loaded up with cream... and then?
I got to smearin'.
I smeared it in there really good, like, until the white cream had completely disappeared.
Then I went about my day - where the temps got up into the 90s.
Yeah, I did some sweatin'.
But you know what I didn't do any of? Stankin'.
The next day, again, it was super hot and my brain was RE SIS TING not putting on deodorant before leaving the room, but I powered through my brain screams and went outside.
And it was a repeat of the day before, but with a lot more checking on my part. We did an afternoon lunch with a fellow Michigander and I didn't want to be stinky!
And I wasn't!
Then, the next day came and, while it wasn't as hot, I did spent a solid 2 hours in the sunlight but I still didn't get stinky.
The following morning I woke up and I smelled it a little bit - which is something they say happens in the beginning. It takes a few applications for your armpits to acclimate.
But three days one on application is nothing to laugh at.
This morning I applied, uh, application number 2.
Let's see what happens!
TIME SWOOSHES BY
Okay, it is now 3-days since the last time I wrote in this blog. I have had to apply a little bit of deodorant every morning after my shower because I wake up a lil stinky.
Not, like, no deodorant at all stinky, but enough that my OCD nose notices it.
And this is okay! That's what the instructions say - that it takes a few weeks for your body to get used to this and if you smell more than you'd wish to, just "dab on a little more one."
The word 'dab' sounds so gentle, doesn't it?
That word does NOT describe the way I put this stuff on, though.
It comes with a lil spatula thingie, so I scoop a bit out, slap it on my pit and start rubbing it in until it disappears.
If I dabbed it on, the only place that would stay not stinky is the place I dabbed.
I want the whole pit to be non-stinky, okay?
Coming up? We move into the Professor House and I see how this stuff really holds up!
SWIRL THE TIME
Okay, so here I am with an update. It got upwards of 90 today while I was moving around the house, inside, windows open with all the fans on.
And I smelled myself.
Now, I had made it through all the moving stuff up and down so many stairs and the massive amounts of sweating I did the last few days.
But I put on a little but more every morning because I knew I would be sweating.
And that seemed to work. I'd be sweat crazy, but at worst, by the end of the day, I'd smell like a kid who'd been out kid'in all day. You know, that wholesome summertime sweat smell, before puberty hits and we learn all the body shame? (At least that's when I started to learn it)
That's the worst I smelled when I put this stuff on every day - and even the in between days when it wasn't quite as hot out and I was chilling. Those days it worked fine.
So this morning, I put it to a real test.
Mostly because I was too lazy to apply it with the little spatula and rub it into my underarms until it disappeared.
I don't like having wet hands or goop on my hands at all, sis.
And I unpacked the kitchen.
And did laundry in the basement.
And brought some stuff upstairs.
And at about 2pm-ish, I started smelling myself and it just kept getting stronger.
Luckily I don't mind taking a nice long cleansing bath.
And when I got out, I wrestled with myself, because I knew it was gonna be hot the next few days and I also knew I'd be doing a lot of moving around.
Do I smear the cream?
Or do I instead just roll on some of that expensive New Zealand stuff that is my favorite.
But I'm tucking the smeary cream away for the winter, because honestly my pits have never looked better.
